26/07/2026 Clothing Collection
The Gaping Goose is hosting a clothing collection on Monday 27th July from 2pm to 6pm. The Clothing Bank will pass the clothing onto people who are in desperate need of clothes. Garforth Lions are supporting the collection.
25/07/2026 Garforth Town 0-1 Guiseley AFC
Garforth fell to a narrow defeat on Tuesday evening but had a good workout against a side from the division above and got more pre-season minutes under their belts. The Miners fell behind in the first half but could have gone in level at the break if a Luke Aldrich penalty hadn't clipped the bar. Both sides made plenty of changes after the break and Town were unfortunate not to equalise right on the stroke of full time.

The Christmas Experience Event at Lotherton Hall this year will run from 21st November to 3rd January. The Christmas Experience has something for everyone, from little believers visiting Santa for the first time, to magical adventures with Mrs Claus, the elves and Santa, or a festive day out full of wonder. Estate entry only is ?12.50 adults, ?7.75 children aged 3+, free for under 2's. Santa?s North Pole is from ?16.95, perfect for families, and Santa?s Cabin for pre-school kids is ?12. Hearty congratulations to Garforth Neighbourhood Forum, the Save Parlington Campaign and our local councillors for their sustained campaigns against building houses on Green Belt land around Garforth and Aberford. We are not short of brown field sites in the Outer South East of Leeds so there was never any need to use farm land for much needed affordable housing. Thank you also to the Inspectors for showing LCC the error of their ways. We must all hope their recommendation is heeded.

10/09/2016 Local Airport’s Charter Flights Plan
The owners of the Leeds East Airport at Church Fenton, Tadcaster, have applied for an operator's licence by the Civil Aviation Authority. The airport plans to offer up to four flights a day to Cannes, Faro and Malaga from May 2017. Residents have raised concerns over aircraft noise and an increase in traffic congestion. A spokesman for the airport said there were no plans to introduce scheduled flights but the airfield would concentrate on a limited number of "VIP service" charter flights costing around £1,000 per person for a return ticket.
