26/05/2019 Theft from Van
There was a theft from a Transit Van parked on Brambles Court, Hillam between 9pm on 23rd May and 0545am on 24th May. The offenders gained entry to the vehicle by drilling the locking system. Power Tools and Hand Tools were stolen from within. Please contact North Yorkshire Police with any information on 101

RSPB Fairburn Ings marked Dementia Awareness Week by launching its new monthly Wellbeing Walks to connect more people with the Aire Valley. A similar programme has run at St Aidanís since July 2018. The event is free and led by RSPB rangers. The event will take place on the second Thursday of the month. The St Aidanís event takes place on the last Wednesday of each month

25/05/2019 Mental Wellbeing
On Tuesday 4th June Garforth Library will be starting a 7-week-long Mental Wellbeing Course with the organisation Humans Being. The course will be every Tuesday, 10.00-12.00, and will be a safe and supportive environment to talk about your problems. This course will tackle many issues, including stress, self-esteem, being true to yourself and setting goals, all with the aim of creating a more confident you. The course is entirely free but there are limited places, so if you'd like to join, phone 0113 224 3291

An Outdoor Yoga class takes place at Bert's Barrow in Hillam on Saturday mornings throughout the summer from 08.15 to 09.00, come rain or shine (in the barn if it's raining!). It is £5 or £3 for under 16s.

03/01/2019 Peckfield and Parlington Plans Squashed by the Inspectors
Hearty congratulations to Garforth Neighbourhood Forum, the Save Parlington Campaign and our local councillors for their sustained campaigns against building houses on Green Belt land around Garforth and Aberford. We are not short of brown field sites in the Outer South East of Leeds so there was never any need to use farm land for much needed affordable housing. Thank you also to the Inspectors for showing LCC the error of their ways. We must all hope their recommendation is heeded.

The grand opening of the Grand Bengal Indian and Bangladeshi Restaurant and Takeaway takes place on 26th September at 18 Cross Hills Kippax. There are opening offers for dining in and takeaways. 10/09/2016 Local Airportís Charter Flights Plan
The owners of the Leeds East Airport at Church Fenton, Tadcaster, have applied for an operator's licence by the Civil Aviation Authority. The airport plans to offer up to four flights a day to Cannes, Faro and Malaga from May 2017. Residents have raised concerns over aircraft noise and an increase in traffic congestion. A spokesman for the airport said there were no plans to introduce scheduled flights but the airfield would concentrate on a limited number of "VIP service" charter flights costing around £1,000 per person for a return ticket.
