2019-03-09  Charlie’s Ball

Rachel Cheshire, from Monk Fryston is busy putting the finishing touches to a charity ball that she is staging in aid of the Leeds-based Charlies-Angel-Centre Foundation, which was founded in 2012 by Ruth Curtis and her family after the death of little Charlie Curtis. It aims to raise awareness of the needs of bereaved parents and families. Charlie’s Ball in aid of Charlies-Angel-Centre Foundation is on Thursday March 14 at Aspire on Infirmary Street, Leeds, starting at 6.45pm, with red carpet, champagne reception, three-course dinner, cabaret, fashion show, auction and disco. 2019-02-27  Wellbeing Fundraiser

Monk Fryston CofE Primary School Parent Teachers Association is raising funds to provide an outdoor wellbeing room for the pupils. The cost of the installation of the room is £21,000 and a further estimated £10,000 to buy resources to kit it out. Therefore the PTA are launching a £30,000 fundraising project. 2019-01-21  MFUFC Comedy Night

Monk Fryston United FC is holding a Comedy Night on Saturday 30th March from 6.30pm to midnight. Tickets are £20. They are currently on pre-sale to members  

 

2019-01-06  Wise Owl Quiz

The annual Wise Owl Quiz will take place at the Monk Fryston and Hillam Community Centre on Saturday 26th January. Doors open at 7pm for a 7.30pm start. Tickets including a supper, are £6 a head from the Village Store and The Potting Shed 

 

2018-12-27  Big Grant for Cricket Club

Hillam Monk Fryston Cricket Club has secured a £60,000 grant from Biffa Award, part of the Landfill Communities Fund. The money will enable the existing cricket pavilion to be fully insulated. New doors, windows and a heating system will allow the pavilion to be used as an all year-round community facility. At the moment, the building and its environment is only useable in summer months. 

 

2018-12-12  School Bus Crash

Police were called to the scene of a crash between a lorry and a school bus on Selby Road , Monk Fryston at 3.30pm on Monday. Two people were taken to hospital for treatment. Police say the driver of the lorry involved in the collision has been arrested on suspicion of drug driving. 

 

2018-11-26  Co-op Helps Local Scout Group

The first Monk Fryston and Hillam Scout Group has received a cheque for £5,850 from their local Co-op in Sherburn. The scout group is a recipient of the Co-operative Community Fund which has donated £19 million for local causes funded by plastic bag sales and a one percent share of spend.
