2026-07-08 Parish Councillor Vacancy |
Due to the resignation of Cllr G E Whysall, Micklefield Parish Council has a vacancy in the office of Councillor. On receipt of a request in writing from any ten local government electors for the said Parish, an election will be held to fill the vacancy. If no such request is made the vacancy will be filled by co-option by the Parish Council. Requests for an election to be held to fill the vacancy must be in writing and must reach the Returning Officer, Leeds City Council, Electoral Services, Civic Hall, Calverley Street, Leeds LS1 1UR by no later than Thursday 23rd July 2026. |

2026-07-07 Summer Fair |
There is a Summer Fair on Wednesday 8th July from 3pm to 5.30pm on Micklefield Primary School Field. Entry is free. All proceeds going towards a trim trail for the school playground (a wooden outdoor obstacle course) |

2026-07-04 Motorcyclist Dies on A1 |
Police are appealing for witnesses and footage following a crash on the A1. It happened just before 5.30am on Friday 3rd July between Junctions 42 Selby Fork and 43 Hook Moor on the A1 northbound and involved a grey Suzuki motorcycle. Police are appealing for witnesses and footage. The rider, a 58-year-old man, was found on the grass verge a short time after the bike had been reported to police by a concerned passing motorist. He was sadly pronounced dead at the scene. |

2026-06-17 Water Safety |
PCSO Simpson visited Micklefield Church of England Primary School on Tuesday to talk about Water Safety. Sessions were delivered to Early Years, Key Stage 1 and Key Stage 2. The pupils engaged and understood the dangers of going into open water. Lots of fantastic questions were asked and answered. |

Micklefield Open Gardens event takes place on Saturday 13 and Sunday 14 June, Entry to gardens is by programme, which costs ?5 from St Mary?s Church. Accompanied children are free. |

2026-05-05 Peckfield Mining Disaster |
Thursday April 30th was the 130th anniversary of the Peckfield Mining Disaster. There was a memorial in St Mary the Virgin, Micklefield churchyard where many of the victims are buried. There was also a Said Eucharist on Wednesday 29th April at 9.30am for the 63 victims. |

2026-04-18 Windfarm Community Fund |
Grants are available from Hook Moor Windfarm Community Fund. This is for grants that benefit the people of Micklefield and Aberford there is over ?20.000 in the fund as it is under subscribed (not enough people/groups applying). There are 2 grants to apply for one for up to ?1000 and the other for up to ?3000 but in special circumstances more has been awarded. |

2026-04-15 New Pedestrian Crossing |
Due to the Closure of the Ridge Road and the resulting traffic increase in Micklefield a new temporary pedestrian crossing has been installed at Micklefield Primary School. Additional traffic lights will also be installed at the school?s car park entrance to help drivers leaving the car park. |

2026-04-14 Open Gardens |
Micklefield in Bloom and St Marys are hosting Open Gardens in Micklefield on the weekend on 13th and 14th June and are looking for residents with gardens that they are willing to open up to the public on one or both afternoons.
