2022-06-21 Fifty Years and Counting |
The beginning of July is the 50th Anniversary of Ordination to the Priesthood Revd Nick Plant. To mark this milestone there will be a special service of celebration at St Mary the Virgin, Micklefield on Sunday July 3rd at 4pm. Nick will preside and the Right Revd Paul Ferguson (Bishop of Whitby) will preach. Afterwards there will be drinks and cake. |

2022-05-25 Church Theft Forces Midweek Closure Policy |
St Mary’s Church in Micklefield has been forced to consider closing the church during the week for the time being. The porch will be open to allow people to continue to donate food for the food bank. They may open up the church later in the year if they can recruit volunteers to church sit. This decision follows the theft of 2 ceremonial staffs (wooden poles with a gold-coloured crown/mitre) from the church. They are appealing for the return of the missing staffs. |

2022-03-23 Not Suspicious Rail Death |
Police have confirmed a person died on the train line in Micklefield on Monday. Officers from British Transport Police (BTP) were called to the station at 7.57pm following reports a body had been found on the tracks. Paramedics also rushed to the area. A person was pronounced dead at the scene. The police have confirmed the death is not being treated as suspicious and the matter has now been handed to the coroner. |

2022-03-22 Body Found on Track |
A body was found on the line at Micklefield train station on Monday evening and police are at the scene. Northern has confirmed the line between Micklefield and Leeds was blocked while emergency services dealt with an incident. The line is open but services could be delayed or cancelled. |

2022-03-06 CIL Consultation |
Micklefield Parish Council are conducting a CIL Community Consultation on Thursday 10th March at The Old Fire Station Youth & Adult Centre from 4.00pm to 8.00pm and again on Monday 14th March at Churchville House Social Centre from 4.00pm to 8.00pm. They have already identified a number of ‘infrastructure’ projects that could be funded or part-funded by the CIL monies but they need residents’ views. |

2022-03-04 A Load of Rubbish |
Volunteers from across Leeds have joined a mammoth effort to remove "industrial levels" of litter blown from a landfill site in Micklefield. Residents in the village were left outraged by a large volume of waste that covered the village last month, escaping from Peckfield Landfill Site in Ridge Road in high winds. A huge clean-up operation is now underway, with litter pickers employed by the landfill working with Leeds City Council and volunteers. Volunteers from as far as the city centre, Garforth, Horsforth, Guiseley and Kippax have joined in the clean up. |

2022-02-05 Rubbish Storm |
Residents in Micklefield have been left in despair after "industrial levels" of litter were blown from the local waste management site in the recent high winds. Site owners Caird Peckfield Ltd have arranged for a team of litter pickers to clear the rubbish and ask local residents to contact them if their gardens are suffering from the waste problem and they require help. |
