2019-03-14  Spring Brass Concert

Kippax Band will perform their Springtime Concert on Sunday 14th April at 8pm in the Kippax Band Social Club. The event is free to members and £2 to non-members on the door. 

 

2019-03-06  Couple Slam New Kippax Home

A Kippax couple Nicola and Phil Bentley say they are at “breaking point” after finding 700 defects in their brand new Persimmon Homes house. The couple claim there are 700 faults with their newly-built house and the builder has only fixed 10 per cent of the faults in ten months. The house was bought off plan and the couple were not allowed to inspect the house prior to signing the contract. 

 

2019-03-05  Kippax Band Going to Finals

More than 50 brass bands descended on Huddersfield Town Hall at the weekend for the Yorkshire Brass Band Championships 2019. In the Third Section Kippax Brass Band took first place with Wetherby and District Silver second, with both qualifying for the National Finals which will be held in September at Cheltenham racecourse.

2019-02-22  Backlash Over Traveller Proposal

A huge backlash against plans to transform a Kippax allotment into a traveller pitch has led to more than 180 people lodging objections. The planning application has been submitted to convert the allotment off Sandgate Terrace to create the pitch for one caravan, plus a dayroom, mobile home and parking space. The proposal has caused widespread concern in the community and led to a public meeting attended by more than 100 people at Kippax Central Club. 

 

2019-02-20  Bearded Birds Step Out of Cover

Bird watchers have been flocking to St Aidan’s Nature Park to photograph the rarely seen Bearded Tits. These shy birds inhabit reed beds and so to see them in numbers out in the open has caused quite a stir 

 

2019-02-19  Residents Support Kippax Plan

The Referendum for the Kippax Neighbourhood Plan was held on 14th February. The count showed that 1337 votes were cast in favour and 170 against with 2 spoiled papers. The turnout was 20.2 percent.  

 

2019-02-13  A Spring Concert

The Fairburn Singers are holding a Spring Concert in Selby Abbey on Saturday 6 April 2019. They are joining forces with Castleford Choral Society and the concert starts at 7.30 pm. Tickets are £10 and available from Selby Abbey Office, Terry Rowley on 07821603221 or Castleford Choral Secretary on 01977 731521. 

 

2019-02-09  Play Area Approved

Plans for a play area have been approved at RSPB St Aidan’s Reserve. The Wild Play Zone will be built near the Visitor Centre

There will be an old and new clothes sale at the Kippax Band Social Club on Friday 22nd February from 7pm to 9pm.
