2021-10-22 Spooky Halloween Trails
Families are invited to explore the Spooky Halloween Trail at St Aidanís and at Fairburn Ings this October. The walks at St Aidans take place on 24th and 30th October and at Fairburn Ings on 23rd and 31st October. All walks run from 5.30 to 6.30pm. Tickets are £3 per child, no booking is required

Walking Netball is coming to Kippax Leisure Centre on Wednesdays from 4-5pm, starting on 20th October.
2021-10-16 Community Connections Cafť
Garforth NET (Neighbourhood Elders Team) are setting up community connections cafes including one in Kippax Methodists every Thursday from 10am to noon, for everyone to meet up and find out information on local services. The first session is on 14th October. There will also be an information day at Kippax Methodist Church on Thursday 2nd December from 10am to 2pm
2021-10-15 Craft Fair
There is a Craft Fair at St Mary's Church, Kippax on Saturday,16th October 10.00am - 2.00pm. All proceeds in aid of elderly active residents of Kippax for trips and a Christmas party. Come along and support this event.

St Aidanís Trail Half Marathon takes place at RSPB St Aidan's Nature Park on Sunday 17th October from 10am to 2pm
2021-10-14 Leading the Way in Covid Outbreak
Leeds recorded more than 3,000 new Covid cases in the week to 5th October. The area with the highest case rate is Kippax East, Micklefield and Allerton Bywater, with a staggering case rate of 1,054.2 per 100,000 people; followed closely by Garforth South, Swillington and Little Preston, with a rate of 967.5.

2021-10-12 Rare Bird Spotted
Around 1,500 people have visited St Aidans Nature Reserve after an extremely rare Long-toed Stint, a bird which has strayed a long way from its normal range, was found on Friday. The Long-toed Stint breeds in Siberia during the Northern Hemisphere summer. There have only been three previously verified occurrences in the British Isles.

2021-10-05 Car Thieves Jailed
A car theft gang used a £20,000 high-tech device to open and steal five SUVs from outside victims' homes in Leeds and Wakefield, a court heard. The trio stole five Mitsubishi Outlander vehicles worth more than £180,000 between 28th June and 21st July, including a £36,000 Mitsubishi Outlander, stolen from an address in Kippax on 20th July. The ring leader was jailed for two and a half years and two other men were sentenced to 22 months, suspended for 2 years.
