A teenager from Kippax who burgled the home of an elderly woman 2 weeks after she went into care has escaped a custodial sentence. Casy Foley was caught red handed at the house by police officers when a neighbour raised the alarm. Foley of Glencoe Gardens, Kippax admitted burglary and was sentenced to 12 months in a young offender institution, suspended for 24 months

It has been confirmed that Osprey Lake at Kippax Park fishery has fallen to koi herpes virus KHV. The deadly virus can cause a 100 percent wipeout of carp stocks and has no known cure. .After a similar outbreak at the siteís sister Lapwing Lake last year, CEFAS has extended the siteís designation order in an attempt to limit the disease
2019-07-30 Paedophile Jailed for 13 Years
69 year old Malcolm Church of Coronation Avenue, Kippax was jailed for 12 years and nine months after pleading guilty to two offences of rape and two of indecency with a child. The crimes took place in the mid-1980s when the girls were aged 12 and 14.

2019-07-23 Kippax Councillor Awarded Doctorate
Former Kippax and Methley Councillor Keith Wakefield OBE has been awarded an Honorary Doctorate from Leeds Beckett University. Mr Wakefield served as an elected member of Leeds City Council from 1988 until he stepped down in May this year. He was leader of the city council on two occasions from 2003 to 2004 and then 2010 to 2015.

2019-07-08 Flytipped Caravans
Police were stunned two find two unwanted caravans abandoned on a grass verge in the village of Ledston. The vehicles were in a poor state of repair, with smashed windscreens, flat tyres and damage to the bodywork clearly visible. Their registration details will be passed to Leeds City Council, who will investigate their last known owners for flytipping offences.

The Neighbourhood Police Team will be at Kippax Library on Saturdays 6th July, 3rd August and 7th September from 11am to 11.45am. 2019-07-04 School Requires Improvement
Following a recent OFSTED review Kippax Greenfield Primary School has been rated as Requires Improvement in three key areas and overall with two criteria given a good rating.The school was previously reviewed as good prior to becoming part of Brigshaw Learning Partnership trust. The trust is taking robust action to rectify the areas that have been identified as requiring improvement.
