2017-08-18 Buggy Wins an Award
A pony whose skin was being eaten alive by maggots when rescued from a field in Hillam has been awarded Rescue Pony Champion of the Year at national horse show Equifest. Buggy, the pony responded well when rescued by World Horse Welfare last year.

The Rector of St Wilfrids and St Marys, the Reverend John Hetherington has announced that he will be retiring towards the end of the year and his final service will be on Sunday 26th November

The annual Proms at the pavilion concert takes place at Hillam and monk Fryston Cricket Club on Saturday 15th July from 5.30 to 11pm. Live acts include Leeds male Voice Choir, York Railway Institute Brass Band, Fairburn Singers and Jessica Lee Taylor. Premium tickets are £25, standard tickets are £15 and concessions and children’s tickets are £5. Money raised will go to Chernobyl Aid UK, Hillam and Monk Fryston Cricket Club and Monk Fryston and Hillam Community Association

On Monday 8th May there will be a Bring, Buy Plant Sale at the Cross Keys, Hillam from 10.00am - 12.00pm in aid of Pancreatic Cancer research.
2017-04-26 Hillam Time Capsule Burial
Hillam Parish Council has accumulated artefacts and photos of village life over the last 9 months for the burial of a time capsule on May day Monday 1st May at noon. The capsule will remain buried for the life of the tree it sits under, which may be 60 years. Everyone is welcome to come along and witness the event.
