2022-05-27 Traveller Site Appeal Dismissed |
An Appeal was lodged against the refusal of planning permission by Selby District Council for the agricultural land on Hillam Lane to become a Travellers site. Hillam Parish Council can confirm that the Planning Inspectorate has dismissed the Appeal Inquiry for the site. |

2022-03-14 Coffee Shop Refurbishment |
The coffee shop at Lumby Garden Centre closed for refurbishment on Friday and will be closed for about a week. The garden centre will be open as usual. |

2021-12-07 Covid Killing Machine |
Engineer Barry Paterson, of Burton Salmon has created a Covid killing machine. The new device takes in room air, passing it over germicidal UV-C light which neutralises the threat. The clean air is then pumped back into the room, a process that on average takes just 20 minutes. |

2021-12-02 Van Theft |
On 22nd/23rd November a white Ford Transit Custom van Reg WA16 KDJ was stolen from the drive of Pine Lodge, Main Street, Hillam. The vehicle was left locked and the key left in the house. As there were no signs of a forced entry it is possible that the key had been cloned and a cloned key used to start the van, drive it from behind another parked vehicle and out on to Main Street. The van was full of clothing and goods having being used for transporting goods for a sale at a function at The Cross Keys ,Hillam. |

2021-11-08 Hillam Lights Switch On |
Come along to the switch-on of Hillam lights on Saturday 4th December from 6pm to 8pm, sip mulled wine or a few pints at the Keys, and of course… meet Santa. There will be Food, Drink, Music, Dancing, Singing, Santa, and the Cross Keys finest BBQ food! No ticket required. |

Monk Fryston United JFC will be holding fireworks at the Cricket Club in Hillam from 5.30pm on Saturday 6th November. Tickets are on sale at the post office and the Potting Shed priced £5 for adults and £3 for under 16’s. There will be music, a BBQ, a bar and lots of fun. |
