2017-06-05   Proms at the Pavilion

The annual Proms at the pavilion concert takes place at Hillam and monk Fryston Cricket Club on Saturday 15th July from 5.30 to 11pm. Live acts include Leeds male Voice Choir, York Railway Institute Brass Band, Fairburn Singers and Jessica Lee Taylor. Premium tickets are £25, standard tickets are £15 and concessions and childrenís tickets are £5. Money raised will go to Chernobyl Aid UK, Hillam and Monk Fryston Cricket Club and Monk Fryston and Hillam Community Association 


2017-05-02   Bring and Buy Plant Sale

On Monday 8th May there will be a Bring, Buy Plant Sale at the Cross Keys, Hillam from 10.00am - 12.00pm in aid of Pancreatic Cancer research. 


2017-04-26   Hillam Time Capsule Burial

Hillam Parish Council has accumulated artefacts and photos of village life over the last 9 months for the burial of a time capsule on May day Monday 1st May at noon. The capsule will remain buried for the life of the tree it sits under, which may be 60 years. Everyone is welcome to come along and witness the event.

Hillam Farm Liveries was burgled in the early hours of Friday morning and thousands of pounds worth of tack was taken 


2017-04-15   Burying the capsule

Hillam Parish Council have been accumulating artefacts and photos for their time capsule. The burial of the time capsule will take place May Day, on Monday 1st May at noon. Everyone is welcome to the ceremony. 


2017-04-02   Burglary Arrests in Hillam

Officers from Selby area Neighbourhood Policing Team and Firearms Support Unit responded to a burglary in progress report at a residential property in Hillam. They detained one male on foot in the area, and a second after a foot chase, recovering stolen property. A 36 and a 39 year old male, both from the Selby District have been charged and remanded, to attend court. 


2017-03-06   Hillam Defibrillator Training Session

Hillam Parish Council has arranged a Cardiac Arrest Response Seminar for up to 50 residents so that they know how to use the defibrillator that has been installed in the telephone box in the village. The seminar will take place on Tuesday March 14th at 7pm in the Community Centre. Residents should call 01757-229885 to reserve a place 


2017-02-28   Burglars Disturbed by Occupants

Two men smashed the patio doors to break into a house in Hillam whilst two elderly occupants were having tea at around 5pm on Sunday 26th February. The burglars were disturbed by the couple and fled the scene in a vehicle. Anyone with any information about the incident should contact the police on 101 quoting reference 12170033304 


2017-02-14   Plan for 33 Hillam Houses

Stonebridge Builders have submitted plans for building 33 houses off Main Street in Hillam. The Parish Council has invited a representative from Stonebridge Builders to their next meeting on Wednesday 1st March at 7.30 at Monk Fryston Community Centre. Residents who wish to find out more about the proposals are welcome to attend from 7.30 until 8.00 after which the Council will continue with its regular meeting. 


2017-01-14   Bertís Off to Parliament

Nigel Adams, MP for Selby and Ainsty, and Alec Shelbrooke, MP for Elmet and Rothwell, are holding an inaugural Kingdom of Elmet Food Day in Parliament on January 18, just for food and drink producers in their own constituencies. Five local businesses have been invited to attended, including Bertís Barrow of Hillam near Selby, which was named Best Independent Retailer in the 2016 Taste Awards held by The Yorkshire Post and Deliciouslyorkshire.
