2019-01-16   Brownie Leader Wanted

Aberford Brownies are looking for a new Brownie leader at 1st Aberford Brownies. The group of 7 to 10 year olds meets on a Monday evenings in term time. You do not need to be experienced, just enthusiastic. For more details contact Debbie Sherratt at aberford.brownies@ gmail.com 

 

2019-01-13   Call to Ban Hunt Meet

The League Against Cruel Sports has written to council leader Judith Blake asking the council to stop allowing the Badsworth and Bramham Moor Hounds holding a meet in Aberford on New Year’s Day amid claims that animals are still being chased. In the letter it is claimed that the November hunt chased a fox and a deer with hounds.  

 

2019-01-10   New Neighbourhood Watch Scheme

Aberford parish council has been advised a new Neighbourhood Watch Scheme has been set up for the Leeds Outer North East policing area. A letter has been issued asking for volunteers to assist with the scheme by creating small Neighbourhood Watch Groups. 2019-01-04   Lotherton Spring Clean

The staff at Lotherton Hall have started a spring clean of the halls and rooms of the main building in preparation for 2019. The house and surrounding estate are all open to the general public for one single price of admission. 

 

2018-12-19   Festive Fun at Lotherton

Families are getting the festive spirit at Lotherton Hall as they enjoy the annual Christmas Experience. The attraction is open every day upto Sunday 23rd December. Tickets are 37.50 for adults and £3.75 for children. Under 4’s go free. Opening hours are 10am to 7pm excerpt Friday and Saturday when they stay open till 8pm 

 

2018-12-13   Elf and Safety Problem

A power cut at the Elf Experience at Lotherton Hall on Saturday night caused the event to be evacuated after visitors to the woodland walk were left in darkness. The power cut was caused by a blown fuse following a downpour of rain. The event was back to normal the following day 

 

2018-12-05   A Christmas Treat

The Friendly Fridays Café in Aberford is holding a Christmas treat on Friday 14th December from 11am to 12 noon. The Village Harmonies Choir will be doing a festive sing along and there will be mince pies plus all the normal café delicacies. 

 

2018-11-23   Aberford Crafts Sale

There will be a sale of local crafts at the Aberford Village Hall Café on Friday 30th November, just in time for Christmas. 

 

2018-11-22   Visit the Maras

Lotherton Wildlife World has become the only zoo in the UK to be home to a group of rare Chacoan maras, a South American relative of the guinea pig. The new additions arrived from Prague Zoo and once settled in will take part in an international breeding programme. 

 

2018-11-11   Lotherton Christmas

Lotherton Hall has revealed that tickets for its Santa Weekends are selling fast. A host of activities will be on offer including the Twelve Days of Christmas woodland walk, the Elf Village, the Christmas Courtyard and the North Pole where children can help Santa’s elves in their workshop.. The event runs from 23rd November to 23rd December and Santa will be in residence daily from 3.40pm
