2020-01-02   Kitten Killed by Hounds

A seven-month-old kitten was allegedly ‘ripped to pieces’ during an ‘illegal fox hunt’ on Christmas Eve. Bits of fur were all that was left of a ginger and white cat named Tiger after he was attacked by hounds from The Bramham Hunt in a ‘barbaric’ incident in Scarcroft. A spokesperson from the Badsworth and Bramham Hunt said: ‘The Hunt were in the vicinity on the 24th December and are aware that a young cat went missing. 


2019-12-07   Battery Theft

On Sunday 1st December a farm at Hazelwood, Tadcaster had a battery stolen from a Manitou vehicle. Barns were also entered but nothing else taken. If you have any information please call 101 and quote job no: NYP-03122019-0062. 


2019-12-06   Accident Halts Morning Rush

A serious accident on the northbound motorway where the A1 and M1 merge on Thursday morning shortly after 8am resulted in long queues developing on both motorways. Emergency services had to close the main carriageway to junction 44 for around 30 minutes.

This year’s Aberford Christmas Lights switch on takes place on Friday 6th December at 6.30pm at the Arabian Horse 


2019-11-25   Skating on Thin Ice

Lotherton Hall has installed a pop-up ice rink in the grounds. It will be open every day from 10am until January 5th. Admission is £12.50 for adults and £9.50 for children over 4 years old 


2019-11-17   PC meeting

The next Aberford and District Parish Council meeting will take place on Tuesday 19th November in the Oriel Room, St Ricarius Church, commencing at 7.30pm. 


2019-11-13   Aberford Plan Passes Referendum

The Aberford Neighbourhood Plan went to referendum on 31st October. Turnout was confirmed at 27.7%, with 86.7% of voters voting in favour of the Plan. 


2019-11-10   Christmas Experience

The annual Christmas Experience at Lotherton Hall launches on Friday 22nd November and runs until Sunday 5th January. There will be a Twelve Days of Christmas Walk through the Captain’s Wood. You can also visit Santa in the North Pole and meet the elves in their workshop 


2019-10-25   Lotherton Hall Spooky Scarecrow Trail

The ever-popular Spooky Scarecrow Trial is back at Lotherton Hall from 26th October to 3rd November. Spot the scarecrows as you tiptoe around the estate, look out for spooky spiders, ghoulish ghosts and wicked witches, hidden all over the house and grounds of Lotherton, and - of course - dressing up is encouraged for all of the family. 


2019-09-15   The Christmas Experience

Lotherton Hall's Christmas Experience runs this year from Friday, 22nd November, right through to Sunday, 5th January 2020. Enjoy a magical Twelve Days of Christmas Walk through the Captains Wood, uncover a secret fairy hideaway in the rock garden, visit Santa in the North Pole and meet the elves helping in their workshop. Marvel in the splendour of the Edwardian House with the rooms dressed in all their festive finery. General admission to the Christmas Experience is £8 for adults and £4 for children. Tickets go on sale on Monday, 16th September from 2pm
