2021-10-05   Christmas Experience at Lotherton

Lotherton Hall is set to have an extra sprinkle of festive magic this year. The popular family attraction is hosting a special Christmas Experience to mark the sixth anniversary of the holiday event. Santa will return with an appearance from his beloved, Mrs Claus - the first time ever in the Christmas Experience's history. Visitors can also enjoy a new and exciting festive woodland walk through the estate's grounds. Santa will be in The Elf Village ‘Under The Wishing Tree’, waiting to greet boys and girls and give them a special early Christmas gift. The Christmas Experience, run by Lotherton and Breeze, will return from 27th November to 2nd January 2022. 


2021-10-03   Leeds Festival Traffic Problems

Councillors in north Leeds say they are getting more complaints than ever before from local people disgruntled by traffic problems caused by the Leeds Festival. Local councillors say the problem has now got so bad, they have set up a new working group to address residents’ concerns around the annual music event. 


2021-09-18   Branch Surgery Closure

Garforth Medical Centre are proposing to close their branch surgery at Aberford. They plan to transfer all their patient services currently offered at the branch surgery to their other sites at Garforth and Barwick in Elmet. The dispensary service would transfer to Barwick in Elmet. Patients who would like to comment are asked to complete their survey. This will be open from today (Monday 13th September 2021) and will close on Friday 15th October. The link to the survey is smartsurvey.co.uk/s/Aberford/  


2021-09-17   Village Hall Cafe

The Aberford Village Hall Cafe is back from today. They will be closing at 3pm due to additional cleaning responsibilities so don't leave it too late to come for that afternoon cup of tea and cake! They are providing hand sanitiser and now have a card machine for payment, although they will still be taking cash if you prefer. 


2021-09-09   Drug Dealer Jailed

Sam Braithwaite, 28, of Farfield Avenue, Knaresborough, was jailed for eight months and banned from driving for 40 months. He pleaded guilty to carrying a knife in public, cocaine driving and possessing cannabis on Main Street, Aberford, and possessing cannabis and cocaine and carrying a knife on Gallows Hill, Ripon. 


2021-09-04   Charity Takes Abandoned Camping Gear

A Hull homeless charity managed to fill a van with abandoned sleeping bags after festival-goers left tens of thousands of pounds worth of camping gear, in the form of dumped tents and sleeping bags in the aftermath of Leeds Festival. A spokesman for the charity commented "Any homeless organisation next year, when this is over, get yourself down here and this can save many, many lives this winter.” 


2021-09-03   Autumn Harvest

Explore the tranquil orchard and pick your own apples to enjoy at home at the Lotherton Hall autumn harvest, from 12th to 19th September. They have over 100 varieties of apples available to choose from including classic everyday varieties and more unusual types. 


2021-09-03   Jazz in the Garden

King and I Jazz Band will perform a series of jazz band favourites in the formal gardens at Lotherton on Sunday 5th September from 2pm to 4pm. The event is free with estate entry.

Harewood Councillors are calling for a full review of traffic management plans for future Leeds Festival events following unpublicised changes that closed the A64 entrance to Aberford in the early hours of Wednesday morning 


2021-08-26   Delays Heading to Festival

The rush of people heading to Leeds Festival is causing an hour and half delays on the M1 near Leeds on Wednesday afternoon on M1 north from J46 and A1M north from J43 due to traffic heading to Bramham Park.
